Meril’s design reflects an atmosphere of eclectic creativity, the result of inspiration from various world cultures. Visually and texturally stimulating design features create an interplay of shadow and depth, creating a dining atmosphere embodying the adventure and excitement of the varied menu. Interior features such as French Ombre paint techniques, European and Latin American inspired encaustic tiles, and Mid-Century American “egg crate” and also, pyramidal suspended ceilings, are woven seamlessly through the color and material palette.
Large scale murals are featured in each dining space above mesquite end-grain wood block floors. Reclaimed heart pine wrapping the columns was milled from the original historical building’s beams. Japanese-inspired light cubes over the bar areas contrast with the delicate openness of the custom designed aluminum cage chandeliers, which were inspired by nautical crab and lobster traps. Grey washed oak millwork with industrial mesh doors and integrated LED lighting houses an extensive wine collection.
